After obtaining his undergraduate degree, David spent the next six years working in healthcare in San Antonio. During this period, he worked for one of the areas largest hospital systems, the regional blood & tissue center, and lectured at a local community college. By the conclusion of his career in healthcare, David was developing and presenting educational programs to various healthcare professionals and he was actively involved with numerous professional organizations.
Next, David attended law school where he became involved in its advocacy programs and board of barristers. David and his teammates advanced to compete in the ATLA National Mock Trial Competition in Chicago and National ABA Negotiations Competition in Philadelphia. Competing against law schools from across the nation, his team placed third at both national events. David received the Juris Prudence award in trial advocacy, Murray Hensley award for excellence in trial advocacy, and was inducted into the Order of Barristers. The advocacy programs helped shape David's career and fueled his desire to become a respected and revered trial attorney.
After interning with the U.S. Attorney's Office and clerking for a medical malpractice firm, David returned to his native northeast Texas to focus his energy on civil litigation. He presently represents clients in a wide array of litigation to include, but not limited to, premises liability, personal injury & wrongful death, labor & employment, contract disputes, civil rights, consumer law, family law, probate & guardianship, and DWI defense. At Smith Weber, David is able to utilize the insight developed through real life experiences to assess lawsuits and represent his clients in both state and federal court.
